You don’t have to be shooting professional sports to get great photos. This image is from the San Antonio Sports and Social Club Intramural Flag Football game. All the images were shot with a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR1 on a Nikon D700. The camera is heavy and adding a big lens makes the rig very heavy. I’ve shot without a monopod during the day, but when the sun goes down a monopod is required. With this setup, I have set my camera at ISO 6400, f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/250 sec.
